We've become a little addicted to clamming and even John has caught the bug. He loves to go clamming as long as it's not windy or rainy and there is no possibility that he'll get wet! As you can see the last clam tide was perfect conditions, John got his limit and Chloe was the designated clam holder. John has even managed to get the largest clams the two times he's been out.

My daughter the genius
Now that the weather is warming up all Chloe wants to wear is skirts and dresses (I still wonder if she's truly mine). I let her but our agreement is that she can't complain about being cold. The other day she grabbed her coat and headed out to the trampoline with Kaiya. I was busy in the kitchen and I hear both girls giggling. When I look out the window what do I see...

Joey and the trampoline
Joey (our dog) loves to jump on the trampoline. As soon as anyone gets on it he whines to get up. He finally figured out if he goes over by the tree he can get up himself. I am constantly calling him down because he tends to knock the kids over when he's up there but it is funny to see him catch air!

Clamming
We had quite a crowd for Razor clamming. Charlene and Dan came up from Gold Beach, Char and Jeff came from Port Angeles, Jim and Rene came over from Ridgefield, Dad came over from Spokane, and Jason and Bailey tried their luck as first time clammers. For those of you who have never been razor clamming you look for small donut shaped holes thta the clams leave when they dig into the sand. When you find on you either use a shovel to dig them up or use a "gun", which is just a metal tube which digs down and pulls up all the sand and the clam. The thing about razor clams is that they can dig themselves down into the sand quickly so you are sticking your hand in a sandy pit to attempt to grab them. The best clams are always showing in the surf and I always end up drenched. Luckily we all got our limits even with the rain and wind.

Cold day at the zoo
We spent the first day of Spring Break at the zoo. It was freezing but the kids were troopers. It was the first time Kaiya really noticed the animals, she spent the day pointing and laughing. The highlight was the giraffe who came up to the window, right next to John and Chloe, and started licking it with his giant tongue. He then decided to give Kaiya some "kisses" which she loved. She kept trying to pet him through the glass. We left before it really started to rain, thank goodness. Now we are doing laundry and packing for the beach!
Rough nap!
