The novelty of rain

We all know that it rains frequently in Portland but the kids still think it's the greatest thing. Every time it starts to sprinkle they want to grab their rain boots and umbrella and head outside (I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon). I'm reluctant to send Kaiya out since she is not walking yet and tends to get her knees soaked and filthy. Kaiya is quite sad when the kids go out without her but she'll be out with them soon!

Tuckered out

Kaiya plays hard and sleeps hard!

OMSI

We spent last Sunday at OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry). The kids had a blast playing with everything. We will be definitely going back frequently. Plus Jay still wants to check out the submarine (but he's waiting for Uncle Guy to visit, so he has someone else who will be equally as impressed with it).

Fall

It's definitely fall in Portland. The trees are changing colors and Jay is busy offiiating. We stopped by some flag football games and caught him in action. Jay just officiated his first varsity game in Jewell, OR last week. He got to meet some of the players up close and personal when they plowed him down on the sidelines, but don't worry he made the call before getting knocked on his butt. I found it rather amusing but Jay did not think it was quite so funny. He's alright not even sore from his encounter, just missing a little skin from his thumb and palm.

Cooper's baseball

Jay's Mom got some great shots of Cooper pitching. We even had a visit from an adolescent moose. John and Chloe got a kick out of the moose on the loose!

Grandma in the mini!

It's the moment we have all been waiting for Grandma Robbie in the Mini! When Grandma saw our car she asked Jay if he could "take her for a spin". It was one of the few times we got Grandma out and about. Kaiya even sat on her lap as we watched the older kids go on the merry-go-round.

Nanny B-day

Found some pictures from Nanny's B-day at the Beach house. We went and rode on the merry-go-round and the tilt a whirl. Grandma Robbie even came with us! We found some great clowns making balloon animals. John got a pirate hat, sword and belt. Chloe got an elephant hat.

We're back...

Finally an updated blog. Sorry for the delay but here it is. I'll try and be better about it now that we are a little settled. Now you can quit posting nasty-grams Nanny! We love you all.

Spokane B-day

We celebrated Kaiya's B-day in Spokane too. She looks happier in the pictures that in reality. She was a bit overwhelmed with people and spent most of the night crying but you know how first B-days go! Thanks Krista and Guy for hosting the BBQ and thanks to all our family and friends for attending. Can't wait to come up for a quieter more relaxed visit soon. Though we had a great time seeing Hayden and Cooper play baseball and softball.

Mac and Ed

Couldn't resist posting this series of pictures of my brother and his son Mac. Too Cute!

Real B-day

On Kaiya's first Birthday she got a monkey brownie cake which the kids and Grandma V helped make. She had fun tearing the paper off her presents and dove into the brownie. After all that sugar and fun she passed out on the floor for a few Z's.

Medford visit

We made a quick trip to Medford to celebrate Grandpa Jim's B-day. The kids were so excited to help him eat his cake and open presents.

First day of school

The first day of school was a little tough for John since he was starting a new school. It took him about a week to make some new friends and now he seems to be enjoying it.

Cooper visit

We were lucky enough to have Cooper come visit for a week. He was our first guest in our new home. We didn't have any of our furniture and had no hot water which made for an interesting visit. I think Coop liked the no showers or baths! We did manage to squeeze in a visit to the zoo which was loads of fun. Hayden came to visit us later in the summer but I being a bad aunt forgot to take pictures! I'll have to get Hayden to e-mail me some.

Living at the beach

Thanks to Grandma Robbie for allowing us to live at the beach house with her this summer. Talk about an invasion! Three kids, a dog, and a cat. Though as you can tell by the pictures Einstein found a nice warm lap to spend his days on.
