First day of school

The first day of school was a little tough for John since he was starting a new school. It took him about a week to make some new friends and now he seems to be enjoying it.

Cooper visit

We were lucky enough to have Cooper come visit for a week. He was our first guest in our new home. We didn't have any of our furniture and had no hot water which made for an interesting visit. I think Coop liked the no showers or baths! We did manage to squeeze in a visit to the zoo which was loads of fun. Hayden came to visit us later in the summer but I being a bad aunt forgot to take pictures! I'll have to get Hayden to e-mail me some.

Living at the beach

Thanks to Grandma Robbie for allowing us to live at the beach house with her this summer. Talk about an invasion! Three kids, a dog, and a cat. Though as you can tell by the pictures Einstein found a nice warm lap to spend his days on.

Reunion

We had a wonderful time at the Reese reunion in July. It was so nice to see the family. The kids had a great time with all the new cousins. John adored the 4 wheeler at Uncle Don and Aunt Cheryl's. He only fell off once! Kaiya was a bit overwhelmed with all the new faces but allowed a few people to hold her.

We're still alive

Just wanted to post a quick note letting everyone know we are still alive. Our move has been eventful to say the least. We are busy attempting to settle into our new home. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will be organized enough to post a few pictures. We have had the greatest time visiting with family and friends and are so thankful being back in the Northwest. You all should be hearing from us soon.

Redneck

Now that the movers have come and taken away all of our stuff we are living off air matresses, carboard boxes, and plastic lawn chairs. Jay is excited to get back to Oregon and in the true spirit of his home town he bought a couple of PBRs to fit into our redneck theme. John spilled on his T-shirt and fit right in.

Record heat

About a week ago we had a record heat wave. It got up to 113 degrees which is unusual for the central coast. We pulled out the kiddy pools and let the kids splash around. Everyone seemed to have a good time and we managed to stay cool for those few days.

Chloe's graduation

Chloe graduated from pre-school earlier this month. They say she's ready for kindergarten but she misses the cut-off date in Oregon so she will have to wait one more year. We are very proud of how well she's done and can't believe how quickly the kids have grown up.

Big 6 year old

Can't believe John is 6 already. We just had a nice quiet B-day at home. He had a swim lesson on Friday night so we had cake and opened presents after swimming. John loves his Legos and Indiana Jones so we found him the perfect gift. Thank you all for sending $ and presents John will have fun playing and shopping in the near future!

Student of the Month

John had a great B-day. Not only did he turn 6 but he was also awarded Student of the Month. His award was for Self Discipline. His teacher said that he is willing to give up his free time to make sure his work is done correctly and comes up with some of the most difficult math problems for his equations (wonder where he gets that from?) His best friend Kai also won for Positive Attitude! By the way in case you were wondering, we decided to send John to a "true" California hippie school. He says his teacher is really "groovy". (Actually it was 70's day at school!)

Drooling problem

Kaiya finally got her first top tooth this week. We should be able to get a good picture of it in the next week or two. She has had a constant drip coming out of her mouth for the last two months. I managed to get a few great drool pictures to share.

Kaiya and Jinx

Kaiya has finally discovered Jinx (much to Jinx's dismay). She loves being able to pet, tug, and slobber on Jinx any chance she gets. Luckily Jinx tolerates the attention.

McDowell family

We had a great visit with the McDowell family. Tavis got to show off his car and Kaiya and Jane met for the first time. As you can tell they got along wonderfully, but Kaiya had to keep an extra firm grip on her crackers so Jane couldn't get them.

Grandma Robbie's

We had a great visit withe Mom, Pat, and Grandma. It took Kaiya a little while to warm up to all the new faces but she loved it when Pat read the ingredients to the animal cookies to her. Plus it helps if you feed her!

It's official

Just want everyone to know that it's official, I'm getting out of the Air Force. As of 1 Aug 08 I will be Mrs. Jenny Carnegie. John is a bit disappointed that mom is leaving the Air Force but I'm overjoyed to start a new chapter in the Carnegie life. We will be moving to Portland in July and can't wait to be closer to family! We'll keep you all updated with the big move.
